Description
A group of eighth graders from Glenwood School created the Girls' Activity Friendship Society when they were told they were too young to volunteer for the Toledo Red Cross Chapter. The GAFS was accepted into Robinwood Hospital to volunteer one afternoon per week; their tasks included preparing bandages and helping with minor duties that the overwhelmed staff could not get to. The GAFS served as an inspiration for the determination women had in providing support for their country.
